Warhammer 40,000: Firewarrior is a first-person shooter set in the dark gothic sci-fi future where you play as Kais, a young Tau warrior set to embark on a journey to become a Fire Warrior by completing your 'Trial by Fire' - your very first combat experience.

THQ today announced that "Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior" for PlayStation 2 and PC is now available at retail outlets worldwide.

"THQ is thrilled to bring the deep stories and sinister 41st Millennium setting of `Warhammer 40,000' to Games Workshop's millions of die-hard fans," said Peter Dille, senior vice president, global marketing, THQ. "`Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior' provides all the elements of a truly compelling interactive online gaming experience."

The "Warhammer 40,000" game universe was introduced in 1987 and has since become one of the world's leading tabletop wargames. The dark, gothic science fantasy of the universe has been enjoyed by millions of gamers ages 12 and up over its 15-year history, the vast majority of whom own at least one console system and/or PC.

Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior takes players through one day in the tumultuous life of Kais, a young Tau warrior who must battle alone against a force that shows no mercy: The Imperium of Man. This first-person shooter gives players 21 foreboding futuristic levels to traverse and an arsenal of 15 unique and deadly weapons. Players will encounter a twisted cast of characters, including the powerful armies of Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Tau Fire Warriors that are in constant conflict. The game features various multiplayer modes, including full-screen, 8-player online play for PlayStation 2, and 8-player online for PC, featuring Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag.
