About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'Wish' - Screens

by Judy on Dec. 2, 2004 @ 8:16 a.m. PST

Wish's highly-scalable server cluster infrastructure allows the game to support tens of thousands of simultaneous players in a single shared world. Wish is the first massively multi player online role playing game that truly tells a story, and lets player actions have lasting implications on the world. Yet more screens ...

Every player of the game is a player in your world, and that provides endless opportunities for bonding through shared experiences. By eliminating the need for artificial "zones," Wish presents a seamless online experience in a world whose size and rich detail far surpass conventional MMORPGs.

The game is based on the Internet Communication Engine (Ice), developed by ZeroC, Inc. in close collaboration with Mutable Realms. Ice provides extreme scalability and speed, and was developed by experts in the domain of very-large-scale systems. Wish also uses NDL’s Gamebryo 3D graphics toolkit and engine and IDV’s SpeedTree for a rich and detailed medieval fantasy world with breathtaking visual effects.
