'The Sims 2' Limited Ed. DVD Available Via Pre-order

In The Sims 2, you direct your Sims over a lifetime and mix their genes from one generation to the next.

This is the first DVD release in the highly successful The Sims franchise and initially will only be available through pre-orders at major retailers. This DVD will be available in North America only at the same price as the CD-ROM version. The Sims 2 is being developed by EA's Maxis studio and will be available on the PC under the EA GAMES brand. In the award-winning The Sims 2, players for the first time will be able to control their Sims over an entire lifetime. Every choice that is made has a relevant and dramatic effect on the life of a Sim. With the ground-breaking addition of genetics, Sims now pass their DNA down through generations giving them a more vivid and in-depth Sims experience all in a 3D world. It's up to the player to take their Sims from the cradle to the grave, fulfill their dreams and push them to extremes in The Sims 2.

"Not only will players enjoy endless hours of gameplay filled with numerous adventures, they'll be able to enhance their Sims experience with the bonus features included in this special edition DVD."

The Sims 2 special limited DVD edition will include a full version of The Sims 2 game and the following bonus content:

  • Expert Interviews - The DVD features detailed tips and hints from the game's designers. You will get to meet the people that worked behind the scenes to bring you the finished product, everyone from the executive producer to the technical director to the director of product development. Fans will learn secret gameplay strategies ranging from fulfilling their Sims' dreams, to pushing them to extremes and of course mixing their genes. Exclusive tips will focus on evolving their family tree, choosing their aspirations, managing their wants and fears and taking them through a lifetime.
  • Film Making 101 - Do you have what it takes to be the next big director? Find out by using the film-making 101 feature in the game. Learn how to create your own movies in The Sims 2 from the designer that created the in-game movie-maker. You will learn how to control the camera, discover tricks for setting up different angles, gain insight into casting & set development, learn the ins-and-outs of special effects & editing, etc.
  • The Sims 2 Cinema & The Sims 2 Outtakes - Enjoy a variety of movies created in-game by the developers of the game and also enjoy a good laugh at the expense of the developers. View amusing outtakes that feature hilarious bugs & bloopers that never made it into the shipping version of the game.
  • Digital Goodies & Movies and Screens of the Game - Show off your The Sims pride with a great collection of The Sims 2 wallpapers to decorate your desktop & instant messenger.
