Ghost Recon 2 is set in the chaotic battlefields of tomorrow, and will offer gamers an insider's view of the way large scale conflicts will be fought in the near future.

Ghost Recon 2 will be the first game to be released with Fonix VoiceIn on the PS2 gaming platform. Ubisoft chose Fonix speech software for its lower memory and processing power requirements, and because speech interfaces enhance usability and result in a fun, realistic play experience.

"Fonix VoiceIn's easy development platform allowed our team to focus on developing a really cool game with an exciting, accessible play interface rather than allotting resources to tweak the speech engine," said Helene Juguet, director of brand marketing for Ubisoft. "Voice recognition has become one of Ghost Recon players' favorite features. Fonix VoiceIn provides accurate recognition as well as an easier set of development tools, and we didn't need to spend time customizing the recognition engine."

"Players love the realism and increased interaction voice recognition adds to games," said Tim K. Hong, vice president of Fonix Mobile Wireless & Games. "Fonix VoiceIn provides a common development interface across Xbox, PS2, PC and Mac platforms, which allows developers to easily add voice to any game. The industry is seeing that new modes of game play are necessary to increase market share. We believe VoiceIn is a great way for publishers to offer increased usability, fun and innovation on new games that doesn't require costly development time or special voice technology expertise to implement."

Fonix VoiceIn is the only software that allows for voice interfaces in Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC and Mac videogames.
