When Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag hit retail earlier this week, gamers were rightfully annoyed to discover that the game featured an online pass that not only gated access to online features but also locked access to some single-player elements if it was not entered.
Today, Ubisoft's communications manager, Gary Steinman, posted a statement on the Ubisoft Blog saying that the company had heard player complaints and was taking action. The online pass for Assassin's Creed IV has been made free.
Steinman also confirmed that Ubisoft was dropping the use of online passes for future titles.
Gamers currently without a Uplay Passport for Black Flag will be able to download one for free from Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. For those who have already purchased Uplay Passport for Black Flag, please contact your regional Ubisoft support.
What's more, Uplay Passport will not be a part of any future Ubisoft games.
