About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

12. 'Anthem' (PS4/XOne/PC)

Anthem is a shared-world action-RPG, where players can delve into a vast world teeming with amazing technology and forgotten treasures.

Chris Barnes: Mass Effect Andromeda didn't exactly set the world on fire (a bold statement, I know…), so I've been hungry for another space epic by Bioware.  I'm really hopeful that Anthem delivers.  The gameplay we've seen up to this point looks promising, and I love the environments they've shown off.  Hopefully, Bioware can rekindle some of the magic that enveloped some of its games and can win me back.

Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: Admittedly, I've been playing through a little bit of Anthem so far, and it has been just enough to keep me intrigued.  I'm still not sure yet what kind of game Anthem will be when it comes down to it, but I've liked what I've seen.  The powered suits, the graphics, the blasting of enemies are all well and good.  What I am more interested in is the story hooks, as this is the same development team that brought us the original Mass Effect trilogy.  The whole game comes out awfully soon, so this is one title that we won't have to wait long for until our questions are answered.

Thomas Wilde: Most of my reasoning on this one is meta. I want to see if BioWare can right this ship after the Mass Effect: Andromeda problem. I'm also curious if the surprisingly addictive multiplayer from Mass Effect 3 can translate into some kind of weird "Tony Stark joins the Guardians" mash-up gold, or if this is going to turn out to be as thoroughly corporate a cash grab as it seems like it is. Either way, there's a lot riding on this one.
