About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

5. 'Control: Resonant' (PS5, XSX, PC)

Control Resonant is a thrilling action/adventure RPG where you explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation.

Redmond Carolipio: The original Control remains one of my favorite games of all time. Jesse Faden is right up there with Max Payne and Alan Wake in the Remedy character stable, but it's Jesse's brother Dylan taking center stage here. We were left with hints of what Dylan's considerable power could be, and now we'll get to see it for ourselves. Flex, young man.

Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: The original Control was a delightful mix of superpower simulator, supernatural horror, and the unyielding suffering of government bureaucracy, so it's no wonder hype has been high for a sequel. Resonant is expanding the concept by showing us the terrors of the FBC leaking out into the real world. The game throws us into the shoes of former antagonist Dylan Faden as he seeks out his now-missing sister. With combat that appears to be a whole lot meatier and more melee-focused, it looks like Resonant will give us the same bizarre brain-twisting settings but with way more of a punch. We're all here for that.

Adam Pavlacka: Between Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control, Remedy has built out an intriguing game universe. Control Resonant promises more of the same, while also positioning itself as a game for new players. While you don 't need to have played Remedy 's prior games, having the backstory will no doubt reveal some interesting connections.
