Star Wars Galaxies for Xbox Live and PlayStation 2

LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC today announced its intent to develop versions of the company's highly anticipated first game of its Star Wars Galaxies online series for Xbox Live and PlayStation 2. Specific release dates for the Star Wars Galaxies-branded massively multiplayer games for the two next generation console platforms will be announced at a later time. This December LucasArts will release a Windows PC version of the game, developed by Sony Online Entertainment, titled Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.

'Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island'

EA announces development has begun on Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island (working title), an third-person action-adventure game set in the grim reality of an alternate history. As the hero, the player takes the role of a mild mannered, blue-collar worker who finds himself hurled into the position of a fearless freedom fighter as he battles an invading Soviet Red Army on the besieged streets of New York City. The game is currently in development for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and Xbox video game system from Microsoft, from Io Interactive and is slated for a worldwide release fall 2002. A first-person version of the game is also in development for the PC and is scheduled for a winter release.

The company has gained exclusive rights to develop and publish interactive games using the TONKA MONSTER TRUCKS and TONKA SEARCH AND RESCUE license for Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color video game and handheld systems. TDK Mediactive will produce these titles under a sub-licensing agreement with Infogrames, Inc. the master licensor and publisher of CD-ROM games based upon Hasbro's intellectual property.
