Square Enix to Bring Ubisoft Titles to Japan

Square Enix announced that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Ubisoft Japan under which Square Enix is entitled to distribute Ubisoft games exclusively in Japan starting April 2009.

'Rock Band 3' (ALL) Coming in 2010

During a Billboard Digital Music Live Q&A session at the CES 2009 in Las Vegas, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopolous revealed that there will be no new installment in the Rock Band franchise this year. Instead Harmonix will skip a year and put its focus on the previously announced Beatles game, a title built from the ground up in collaboration with Apple Corps., scheduled for release holiday 2009. Whether the new Rock Band title in 2010 will include keyboards, Rigopoulos remained vague, only saying "maybe."

UK Games Industry Thrives While Japanese Market Tanks

The UK's ELSPA revealed its annual sales figures, revealing videogame sales hit an all-time high in 2008, with growth of 23 percent on figures for 2007 the market has now more than doubled over the last five years. On the other hand Enterbrain reports that the Japanese videogame market is not doing so well with a decrease of 15% on total sales.

The 'Home' 3D online user community service enables users to create their own avatar and explore a real-time virtual community, as if they are playing a detailed 3D game. SCEA is finally adding the Red Bull space in Home, so you’ll be able to get inside the cockpit of a Red Bull Air Race plane and compete against other fliers on the Red Bull Air Race course. Fans who pre-order Killzone 2 through Amazon will get an exclusive costume to dress up their avatar as ISA Soldier, a Helghast Assault Trooper, or something in between. SCEA is also adding Resident Evil: Degeneration-themed T-shirts for all fans of the movie.

The game is neither a port nor a translation and has not ripped content from any other game whatsoever. The developer revealed that once completed, it will look into bringing its RPG game to Xbox Live Arcade through Microsoft's XNA development toolset.

'Gears of War 2' (X360) Gets Flashback Map Pack

Gears of War 2 picks up six months after the events of the original, thrusting players back into humankind's epic battle for survival against a nightmarish force of underground creatures known as the Locust Horde. Epic is now offering the Flashback map pack (includes five popular Gears of War maps) on XBL for 400 Microsoft Points ($5), so 2nd hand buyers can now also enjoy it.
