After a lengthy, but smooth, flight, we've arrived home safe and sound from our New York trip. The fun is over, and now it's back to work.
A few interesting observations from NYC: It does indeed never sleep. There's always stuff happening left and right, the street vendor food smells SO good, the subway stations are warm and humid, and while there are less stinky bums lying around, the people in general smell more. We ate so much over the past week, we're on a diet for the rest of the month to make up for it.
Haven't been able to play games all week (the laptop is a dual core but has a crappy video card in it), so I'm itching to play some more Dead Island, Deus Ex and APB Reloaded.

We certainly didn't plan it this way, but we're in NYC on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. There are
numerous memorials throughout the city to commemorate the lives lost on that day. There seems to be a police car on every corner, and firefighters from all over the world are in town for the memorial.
As we were wandering around today, there was a short scare when we looked up and saw that
a roof was on fire! Just a transformer fire, it seems ....

Yesterday was an awesome day with great weather. We visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and a few other spots in Battery Park. There was some crazy security going on, though. I lost track of all the scanners we had to go through to get to the places we wanted to see.
Being the good tourists that we were, we snapped a lot of photos and topped off the day with dinner and beers with some friends.
Earlier this week, it had been raining cats and dogs, so the U.S. Open women's finale has been postponed until tomorrow, which leaves our day wide open. We're going to introduce some friends to dim sum and then maybe visit the World Trade Center site and Central Park.
