THQ To Publish 'Sky Sports Football Quiz'

by Rainier on Oct. 25, 2001 @ 4:57 p.m. PDT

THQ International, a subsidiary of THQ Inc. today announced an agreement granting THQ the worldwide rights to publish and distribute Sky Sports Football Quiz for PC and PlayStation® platforms. Initially the game will be published across the UK, with both versions due to launch in fourth quarter 2001, in time for the peak Holiday sales period.
Developed by Hothouse Creations, a Bristol based developer of interactive entertainment software, Sky Sports Football Quiz includes full endorsement from Sky Sports and will feature Sky Sports branding and football-related content throughout. Additionally, Kirsty Gallacher, who anchors Sky Sports News and 90 Minutes and also hosts Kirsty's Home Videos on Sky One, is the on-screen host for the quiz. Kirsty offers instructions, adds commentary and guides players through the various sections of the game.

Sky Sports Football Quiz features several thousands of questions from all over the football world, including pictures and audio clips. Up to four players will be able to play over four different game styles, including 'Dream Team' where answering questions awards 'money' which is used to build up a custom team of players, and a fast-paced 'Penalty Shoot-Out' mode for a quick-fire challenge. Innovatively, the game rewards knowledge and speed, but punishes bad guesses with a Red- and Yellow- card system.

Martin Carr, Company Director at Hothouse Creations commented, "THQ's experience with mass-market licences makes them the ideal partner for us in this venture. With the Sky Sports licence and Kirsty Gallacher as the game's host, combined with our knowledge of quiz products, Sky Sports Football Quiz will offer the fans the only Football quiz worth playing this holiday season."

Ian Curran, Managing Director of THQ International, stated, "With family orientated quiz games being immensely popular during the holiday season, the combination of Sky Sports branding, Kirsty Gallacher's talent and Hothouse's experience within this genre, it is a recipe for success."
