'Rage' Signs Nintendo Gamecube Development Agreement

by Rainier on Oct. 31, 2001 @ 5:53 p.m. PST

RAGE is an FPS set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as bandit gangs, mutants, and the Authority – an oppressive government regime that has a special interest in you in particular.
Nintendo GameCube is Nintendo's next-generation console platform and was recently launched in Japan. The console is scheduled for release across North America on November 18th 2001 and throughout Europe in mid 2002.

Rage plans to use the Nintendo GameCube platform to exploit a range of its licensed franchises, including its official series of David Beckham games, and expects to release its first Nintendo GameCube product in late 2002.

Paul Finnegan, Managing Director of Rage, commented: "We are delighted to have secured this agreement with Nintendo as it gives Rage the opportunity to work with all three leading players in the console market. We look forward to bringing a range of high quality and compelling games to the Nintendo GameCube platform."
