Infogrames's Unreal Championship for Xbox - Screens

by Rainier on Nov. 26, 2001 @ 11:35 a.m. PST

Hailed by observers at E3 as one of the most impressive first wave of titles for the Xbox™, Unreal Championship is a first-person action game built from the ground up by Digital Extremes, part of the team responsible for the blockbusters Unreal and Unreal Tournament. Coming exclusively to Xbox, Unreal Championship is being released by Infogrames in early 2002. Check out what one of the most anticipated console first person shooter is all about!

Developed by Digital Extremes, Unreal Championship uses the latest Unreal technology from Epic Games in building a superb single player experience combined with an unparalleled multi-player component. Additional features include all new characters and weapons; land, air and team-based vehicles; exotic levels and environments, as well as new game modes and some old favourites.

With the addition of terrain technology to the Unreal engine, Unreal Championship will feature over 30 brand new exotic indoor and outdoor locales. By combining the capabilities of Xbox with the Unreal engine, environments will feature such jaw-dropping effects as volumetric light, wind affected smoke, particle effects allowing sparks to bounce off individual branches on a tree, and fog that realistically reacts and parts when projectiles pass through it, as witnessed by stunned audiences during Digital Extremes technology demo behind closed doors on the Infogrames stand at E3.

Other exciting new features include brand new, individualised characters with high polygon counts and high-resolution textures. In addition, characters will have specific animations and individual background profiles. Most excitingly, Unreal Championship will feature Internet play with up to 32 players online simultaneously, up to 4 player split-screen, and system link play.

Coupling the unmistakable Unreal dynamic and playability with the astonishing graphic and technical capabilities of Xbox, Unreal Championship is set to be the definitive action game for Microsoft’s new super-console.
