“We’re thrilled with the performance of our PC titles thus far this season and believe that it’s only the beginning,” said Wim Stocks, Senior Vice President of Sales and Distribution for Infogrames, Inc. “These rankings are yet another indication that Infogrames has proven itself to be a leader across all genres, and we will continue to publish games that keep people of every age and experience level coming back for more.”
Backyard Basketball and Backyard Football 2002 are two recently released titles from the Backyard Sports™ series, the industry’s #1 selling sports franchise for kids. Backyard Basketball’s ascendancy to the #1 slot marks the first time in the history of the franchise that a Backyard title has claimed the top spot on the PC charts. Sid Meier’s Civilization III, the hotly anticipated third installment in the best-selling strategy franchise, moved to the #2 position on the PC charts after debuting in the #1 slot the week of October 28. And, Roller-Coaster Tycoon, which has spent all but one week of the last two and a half years in the Top 10, surged back to reclaim the #5 spot.
In addition, Infogrames had three more titles in the top 20, for a total of seven of the top 20 slots for the week ended November 10. Roller-Coaster Tycoon Loopy Landscapes, the popular expansion pack of the original strategy game, ranked #13; Backyard Baseball 2001 claimed the #15 slot; and the Thomas & Friends Railway Adventures CD-ROM Playset came in at #17, further solidifying Infogrames’ position as the leading publisher of games for the PC across all genres.
