Taz Wanted - Facts & Screens

by Rainier on Dec. 11, 2001 @ 6:44 p.m. PST

On May 31, 2002 a frenzied, fast paced, explosive 3D-action platform game will be unleashed on the gaming market. Developed by Blitz and released by Infogrames, Taz Wanted is Taz as he's never been seen before - he's as cool, energetic, rebellious and impulsive as ever but this time he's a fugitive on the run. With a huge marketing and PR campaign to support the title, Taz Wanted, available on PS2, Xbox and PC, is set to be one of the must have games of 2002.

The notorious Yosemite Sam has captured Taz but with his indefatigable energy, it doesn't take Taz long to break free and become a fugitive on the run. Playing as Taz, gamers must destroy all of the Taz Wanted posters and avoid capture by rushing, breaking, eating, spinning and biting his way through free roaming worlds as tries to find his way back to Tasmania.

Due to the huge attraction of the Looney Tunes brand and characters, Infogrames expect Taz Wanted to appeal to a broad audience, although the specific character attributes of Taz make it an ideal game for teenagers aged 13 upwards. It follows hot on the heels of "Sheep Dog and Wolf" which was released on PSOne in September 2001 to rave reviews. The game was widely praised for its innovative gameplay and Infogrames expect Taz Wanted to match the inventiveness of "Sheep Dog and Wolf" and become its next must have game for 2002.

Says Kerri Orders, Head of Family Marketing at Infogrames, "We are very pleased to be working with Blitz on Taz Wanted. Blitz has demonstrated a great expertise in producing high quality games with broad-based appeal. To date, we are confident that our debut launch of the most popular Looney Tunes character, the Tasmanian Devil, on next generation platforms will be one of the most wanted games by both gamers and casual gamers alike. Taz's irreverent and aggressive character is perfectly translated by Blitz into the interactive arena."

Jon Cartwright, Project Manager at Blitz adds: "Taz Wanted has been a great opportunity for us at Blitz to work with Infogrames for the very first time. Taz is such a wild character and Infogrames has given us the freedom to go to town creatively with this game. We've managed to bring Taz and other Looney Tunes characters to next-gen platforms with fantastic animation. The whole look is true to the heritage of the brand but we've also managed to bring it right up to date putting Taz in a contemporary environment."
