Carl Chapman signs for Konami!

by Rainier on Dec. 6, 2001 @ 2:05 p.m. PST

Chelsea stadium announcer lends voice to ISS 2. Chelsea FC’s stadium announcer, Carl Chapman, is the latest addition to Konami of Europe’s list of vocal talent for its forthcoming International Superstar Soccer 2 title for PlayStation 2.

Chapman, Stamford Bridge’s PA since 1990, has recorded a series of special announcements for use in the game, due for release March 2002. The Chelsea man will be heard announcing the teams, line-ups and pre-match information, and becomes the first professional stadium announcer to appear in a video game. He will be heard alongside ITV’s Jon Champion and BBC TV’s Mark Lawrenson, both of whom provide in-game analysis and commentary for the game’s international competitions.

The Chelsea announcer has enjoyed a long relationship with the West London club, with his voice-overs in International Superstar Soccer 2 another addition to a varied CV. He has a regular spot on Chelsea TV, hosted Chelsea’s FA Cup-winning celebrations in 1997 and 2000, and presented the music industry’s Soccer Sixes celebrity six-a-side tournaments in 1999 and 2000.

International Superstar Soccer 2 is released for PlayStation 2 in March 2002.
