Kemco's 'Batman: Dark Tomorrow' (GameCube)

by Rainier on Jan. 31, 2002 @ 8:57 p.m. PST

Kemco brings the dangerous action and gritty intensity from the comic books of the Dark Knight Detective to the next generation of video game platforms with the action-adventure game "Batman: Dark Tomorrow" on Nintendo’s GameCube. Batman: Dark Tomorrow is being developed by Kemco's in-house team and is expected shortly after the summer.

Storyline

As a full moon rises, the Batman begins his nightly patrol to take back the streets of Gotham City from crime. Chaos fills the streets as Black Mask and his gang, the False Facers, battle for control of the city against Scarface and The Ventriloquist. After defeating the rival gangs, Batman learns that Commissioner Gordon has been mysteriously kidnapped from police headquarters.

With all clues pointing to Arkham Asylum, home for the criminally insane, Batman enters the depths of the Gotham City Sewer System to sneak into the asylum. Once inside, Batman must defeat some of his most dangerous foes — including Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and the Joker — in order to rescue Commissioner Gordon. But, has this all been just a decoy? Batman must solve the mysteries relating to the gang war and Arkham Asylum to find the mastermind behind these seemingly unrelated events and save the fate of the world!

Original Storyline

"Batman: Dark Tomorrow" is based upon an original story by Batman writer Scott Peterson and was written by Peterson with Kenji Terada, famous for his work on "Final Fantasy I + II", as well as "Kamurai".

Game Style

"Batman: Dark Tomorrow" is a third-person perspective action-adventure game that combines hand-to-hand combat, stealth, and trap evasion. Equipment

Game Stages

Batman will face action on the streets of Gotham City, Gazette Square, the Gotham Docks, an abandoned steel factory, the Gotham City Sewer System, Arkham Asylum, and others. Players will have to call on all of his hand-to-hand combat skills, his high-tech gadgets and devices, and his keen detective abilities.

Batman
Batman has been fighting crime, in several forms of media, for over sixty years. His story, introduced in the comics in 1939, has become one of legend. After witnessing the murder of both his parents as a young boy, multi-billionaire Bruce Wayne spent his life in pursuit of physical and mental perfection in order to wage an unrelenting war on crime. Adopting the form of a bat in order to strike terror into the hearts of criminals, who are "a superstitious, cowardly lot," Bruce Wayne, as The Batman, continues to fight to keep the streets of Gotham safe. Newspaper strips, a radio series, and live-action and animated TV and movies have followed. Batman currently appears as a member of the Justice League, on the Cartoon Network.
