Sammy Studios is very pleased to present a short Guilty Gear movie based on the wildly popular 2D fighting franchise. Previously only available on the last Japanese installment in the franchise, Guilty Gear X Plus, this movie is finally making its way across the ocean for its North American debut. The Facts...

There have been over a dozen arcade and home console versions of Guilty Gear titles released in Japan and in the US.
The series took off in 1998, when its unique premise, superbly designed characters and refined fight system hit a chord with 2D fighting genre fans everywhere
Guilty Gear has reached phenomenon status in Japan. For the third year in a row, the Guilty Gear X Festival will take place in Tokyo and will include a mock-fighting tournament, an illustration contest, a character costume event and a gallery featuring the Guilty Gear X literature series .
Game characters are considered among the most unique in the genre, each with classic trademark skills such as “instant kill” and distinct fatal blow animations

The Story...

The Guilty Gear series is set in the 22nd century, where the discovery of magic has upset the balance of power between mankind and the biological weapons of destruction called Gears. Led by a self-aware leader named Justice, the Gears declare war on mankind. What ensues is a hundred year war that results in the defeat of the Gears and the birth of a fighting tournament designed to find humans skilled enough to fight them should new threats arise. Guilty Gear’s engaging premise and unique characters are the work of renowned artist Daisuke Ishiwatari.
