Logitech 'MOMO Racing Force Wheel' (PC) Now Available

by Rainier on Oct. 23, 2002 @ 7:44 p.m. PDT

Logitech announced today that its newest racing wheel, the Logitech(r) MOMO(r) Racing Force Feedback Wheel for the PC, is now available on retail shelves in the U.S. and at www.logitech.com for a suggested retail price of $99.95 USD. The product will be available on retail shelves around Europe in early November.

The Logitech MOMO Racing Force Feedback Wheel offers extensive and versatile programmable controls. It features six easy-to-reach buttons on
the center hub and a pair of sturdy paddle shifters as well as a MOMO-designed manual shift knob with precise sequential shifting action. The shift knob can be moved by the gamer from the right to the left side of the wheel console and back.

Along with true-to-life force feedback effects, the 10" MOMO wheel features a sleek design that is completely encased in rubber for excellent grip and comfort, and also provides 240 degrees of rotation for steering precision.

Whether gamers prefer American stock car racing, formula-type cars or European rally racing, this wheel is an ideal solution for quick, realistic gear changes with whatever hand the gamer chooses. For white-knuckled wheel grippers, the wheel provides a triple clamping system that locks to prevent it from coming loose, and allows it to be secured to many different surfaces.

The full-size gas and brake pedals offer realistic feel, a non-slip floorboard and one of the largest, most stable pedals bases available on the market. The base also includes a carpet grip system.

The MOMO wheel is compatible with a lap attachment (sold separately by Logitech for a suggested retail price of $29.95 USD), an accessory that allows gamers to comfortably and conveniently use it without a desk or table, while "kicking back" in a comfortable chair.

About Force Feedback:

Force feedback is a sophisticated method for providing people with realistic tactile feedback from a PC or console. It is widely used in medical, space and flight simulators to provide lifelike training for students and professionals who make split-second decisions based not just on sight and sound, but also on their sense of touch. This cutting-edge technology has been extended to PC and next-generation console gaming over the last six years. Force feedback is even richer, more realistic and engaging than the non-directional vibration feedback to which many gamers are accustomed. Through the use of advanced software and electronics, force feedback can move a steering wheel or joystick as if the device were subject to real external forces.
