MathEngine’s Karma physics has received the endorsement of yet another of the world’s leading game developers, with the announcement that Rage is to use the product in one of its series of games which it is currently developing in conjunction with the best-selling author and former SAS soldier, Andy McNab.
“Rage’s decision to choose Karma for what are sure to be such high-profile and successful games is especially pleasing for us because its ‘home grown’ physics code has traditionally been among the best in the business,” says Mike Gamble, Business Development Director for MathEngine. “For Karma to be adopted by such a respected development team is further testament to the growing maturity of middleware in general and our product in particular.”
“There were a number of factors involved in this project which have led us down the middleware route,” says Rage Development Director, Colin Bell. “Not least of these was the fact that Andy McNab really ’hit the ground running’ with his input and we had to move very quickly to keep up with his rush of excellent game ideas.
“We are very happy to be using the Karma technology as part of our overall development process as we believe it gives us a powerful and flexible solution to not only reduce the overall development time for the project but also enhance the quality of the finished game.”
Andy McNab is currently working closely with Rage to provide technical and creative input for what will become a series of games across a number of computer and video game platforms. The first of these games will be available in 2003.
