The evil ‘Mr Woe’ has placed a terrible spell on the inhabitants of ‘Soccer Island’ and instructed his squad of felonious fiends to wreak havoc, persecute its people and the cruellest blow of all - steal all the balls from the island. Beckham must use his fabulous soccer skills to take on an army of nasty opponents in order to help reverse the terrible spell and restore peace and harmony to the island.
Beckham can explore five exciting and adventure-packed locations in this fantasy world and along the way can dribble, trap, kick, bend and head a soccer ball to defeat the different monsters that he meets. Beckham can also use a range of special soccer moves to help him out of tricky locations plus can find a variety of different ball types to use and kick through his adventure that produce some spectacular effects, including a Beach Ball and Cannonball!
Rage already produces an official range of David Beckham soccer-based simulation games called ‘David Beckham Soccer’ and this new game is part of the exclusive
3 year exclusive licensing that Rage signed with David Beckham in March 2001 to produce his official range of computer and video games.
Rage spokesman Glen O’Connell said: “David is the perfect role model for children and many younger gamers already look up to him. His huge international profile means he's one of a handful of global sports stars who can be taken out of their everyday world and still be recognised and idolised - even in a cartoon-like form.
"We have already had considerable success with our existing simulation title David Beckham Soccer and see this new game as a natural extension of our licensing agreement with David.”
Go Go Beckham is developed by Dundee-based game designers Denki Ltd and is published by Liverpool-based Rage Software and will be available on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in August 2002.
An enhanced version of David Beckham Soccer will be available on the Sony PlayStation2 and Microsoft Xbox in time for the commencement of the World Cup™.
