The original Rocky film starring Sylvester Stallone earned the Academy Award® for Best Picture in 1976, and the four sequels, released between 1980 and 1991, helped it gain worldwide recognition as one of the greatest "feel good" movies of all time. Developed by UK-based Rage Software, Rocky the videogame is the closest fans can get to the real thing. The hard-hitting, adrenaline-pumping, sports game will hold true to the look and feel of the movie with everything from accurate boxing styles to awesome arenas. Rocky will also let players get into the ring against Rocky's most infamous opponents, including Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago, Apollo Creed and Tommy Gunn.
"Rocky is the kind of license that will attract fans of the movie as well as sports buffs", said Jay Cohen, vice president of publishing for Ubi Soft Entertainment. "When the bell rings in this game, it's for real - you become Rocky - the kind of everyman hero that strikes a chord in all of us."
"We are delighted to have partnered with Ubi Soft for the release of Rocky as the title is one of our most important games due for release this year", said Paul Finnegan, CEO at Rage. "We believed that it was essential to have a major partner in place who could maximize the title within the US marketplace and have every confidence that the game can become a major seller across all console formats this fall."
Rocky will be shown at the Rage Software booth #330 in South Hall at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles starting May 22nd. Fans will also be able to get signed autographs from "Mr. T." - one of Rocky's fiercest competitors - at Rage's E3 booth between 12:00pm and 1:30pm on Thursday May 23rd.
