Eidos Interactive announces Way of the Samurai on PlayStation 2. The game reached No.1 in the Japanese gaming charts when it was released in February this year. Licensed from Japanese publisher Spike Co. Ltd, Way of the Samurai will be released in September in Europe and Australasia only.

Way of the Samurai is a samurai adventure game developed by Japanese-based Acquire, the developer of the first two titles in the acclaimed Tenchu series. The game takes place in feudal Japan as you take on the role of a wandering samurai who is drawn into a conflict between two warring factions. As you encounter both sides, you must begin to make choices that will shape the outcome of the conflict. Way of the Samurai is the first true multi-path adventure; the story is determined by the player's actions, each decision and action affecting the outcome of the game. The game features realistic sword combat where you can master up to 40 different swords featuring 200 unique fighting stances and attacks.

Jonathan Kemp, European managing director of Eidos Interactive says: "We are continually looking for new and exciting games to add to our already impressive product portfolio. Way of the Samurai meets these criteria perfectly and we are confident this innovative game will be very well received."

Mitsutoshi Sakurai, coo of Spike Co. Ltd. says: "Way of the Samurai has been designed with the vision of creating a game that can appeal to a world-wide market. The game has been extremely successful in Japan and US and we are confident that Eidos will ensure this success is replicated in Europe."
