America's Army: Operations is this summer's most highly-anticipated gaming title. Created and designed by the United States Army, this adrenaline-packed multiplayer game is in a class all its own in terms of its realistic game play and military detail. This "Recon" version is a full virtual gaming experience, built upon Unreal's next generation gaming engine. This is not a scaled-down version or demo; 'Recon' is a full version game, including both single and multiplayer scenarios. Ranging from the challenges of Basic Training to performing combat missions on a variety of battlefields, the AA:O Recon will not disappoint! What's your major malfunction, soldier?
The Recon demo requires a whopping 203.9 MB download, and offers "four single player basic training missions including a rifle range, obstacle course and weapons course," as well as "six multiplayer missions including a homeland defense operation, urban training, freeing prisoners, and protecting against an act of ecological terrorism." Word from HomeLan Fed is that the login authorization and multiplayer servers are not due to be launched until the original release time of 3:00 AM EDT (midnight PDT) though. Further mirrors can be expected on the official site by that time as well.
It's also important to note that you can (for now) only play America's Army: Operations RECON online using GameSpy Arcade since the HOMELan servers are not up/active yet.
NViDIA spread the 203 mb demo in 10 parts with a separate merge .bat file (just not to make it difficult on people i guess *g*)
