Nordic Interactive Media Expo Been Postponed

by Thomas on July 8, 2002 @ 4:16 p.m. PDT

G:son International AB, the organisers behind the Scandinavian interactive entertainment conference "NIME:02" (Nordic Interactive Media Expo 2002) has decided to postpone the event to next year. NIME:02 was scheduled to go 30th of October at Sollentuna Exhibition Centre in Sweden and supposed to become a Scandinavian forum for game developers and game publisher in this region.

Earlier this year, the public games exhibition GAMEX (running alongside NIME:02) was postponed. G:son International are now forced to follow in their foot steps and minimize the riscs it would involve running a conference without the backing of a big public event like GAMEX. NIME:02 had some of the best speakers in the industry lined up for the conference, and the presence of the Scandinavian entertainment event has been well received by the industry and media. Unfortunately that was not enough to save the event for this year.

"We have evaluated the risk it would involve running the conference without the backing of GAMEX. It is not unlikely that NIME:02 could have succeeded without GAMEX, but we are simply not ready to take the financial risk. Therefore, we have decided to try again next year." said NIME-organiser Carl Gustafsson, managing director at G:son International AB.
