'AquaNox: Revelation' Officially Announced

by Rainier on July 8, 2002 @ 6:47 p.m. PDT

The Massive Development studio, a unit within the JoWooD Group, already familiar to many for having raised an international stir with titles such as Archimedean Dynasty and AquaNox, are working on a sequel to AquaNox. The underwater battle continues with 'AquaNox: Revelation'.

AquaNox: Revelation is the name of the stand-alone product scheduled for release in autumn 2002. Revelation is a new story set in the underwater world of Aqua and takes place during the same time frame as the original game. In 2666 a young freighter pilot called William Drake sets out to search for the heritage of a mythical ancestor. He is looking for adventure - but finds greed, ruthlessness, merciless hatred… and also unexpected help. But very soon realises that he is not the only one hunting for his ancestor's legendary treasure. The game follows the player through high-energy action and sinister underwater cities. A gripping story, striking characters and the overwhelming architecture of the underwater world are framed by an ingenious user interface.

Massive Development was established in 1993 by Alexander Jorias, Ingo Frick and Oliver Weirich. The studio's first game, Archimedean Dynasty, was hailed as a revolution in the German developers' scene. The continuing work on the studio's krass engine, which has also been externally licensed, has added to the studio's formidable reputation.
