One eye short, Reverend Devlin was not exactly what you'd expect from your regular kind of preacher. The years had not been his friend; wrinkles creased his scarred face and cracked his pale skin alongside his hard grey eyes. Most people would have mistaken him for the devil himself, were it not for the white priest collar encompassing his neck while adding credibility to his appearance.
Mexico, 1852. An accomplished gunslinger and sly dog, Devlin arranges to ambush the hideout of his Los Gauchos gang, driving them away and staging his own death in the process. Having deceived his Mexican companions and taking their stolen gold with him, Devlin is unluckily confronted by one of his comrades-in-crime, Santiago Pedraza. A deadly fight erupts between the two; a struggle barely triumphed by Devlin paying the price of loosing his right eye to a dying Santiago's red stained knife. Leaving his former companion to rot on the sun licked desert plains of Mexico, Devlin leaves for Texas with the stolen gold where he settles down and becomes a priest.
10 years later, during the midst of the American Civil War, a band of seemingly unemployed mercenaries led by a ruthless Mexican unexpectedly leads an attack on Devlin's residence while he is out of town. Plundering his church and thoroughly butchering every living soul, the mercenaries carry off with Devlin's sinful past that is his stolen gold. When he returns home, Devlin is welcomed by an ash covered landscape decorated by sinister murder. Tracks lead to El Cuervo Perdido, an uninviting ghost town hidden away in Durango, Mexico. As it turns out, the town is taken by a band of mercenaries known as the Blood Hounds. Their leader, Mercenario Perro Sangriento, is a man Devlin once knew by the name of Santiago Pedraza.
