BBC Multimedia has appointed Cimex Media Ltd as developer for the title. Multimedia consultancy Cimex has won more than 20 awards in the last 2 years, including two BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards and a Royal Television Society award.
Dave Lee, BBC Worldwide's Director of Multimedia, said: "BBC Multimedia's expertise in taking high quality children's TV brands and enhancing them with award-winning software is well known. We've already had interest in the brand from retail, and we're delighted to be able to meet this interest with the Fimbles PC title."
This Fimbles PC CD-ROM will be based on the brand new pre-school landmark series from the BBC. Fimbles centres on the adventures of three special creatures, Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom, who have a unique talent for finding things just waiting to be found. When the Fimbles get the Fimbling Feeling, their fingers twinkle, their topknots twitch and their noses wrinkle with excitement as the Fimbles discover finds which lead to a rich tapestry of imagination, games, songs and play.
The PC title will offer children a range of fun and educational Fimbling activities - all based around the 'Fimble Valley', and supported by video footage, stories and songs from the show
.
The software title will follow pre-Christmas books and video publishing activity from BBC Worldwide.
The Fimbles TV show has also been licensed to SABC South Africa, CBC Canada and ABC Australia.
The Fimbles television series is produced by Novel Entertainment for BBC/ BBC Worldwide Limited.
