by Thomas on May 2, 2003 @ 5:33 a.m. PDT

Electronic Arts today announced that it has partnered with Digit Magazine to help three lucky people turn their dreams into reality. EA UK Studios, in collaboration with Digit Magazine, are offering the readers of Digit the chance of a lifetime - a job working on the next video game blockbuster within the leading software developer and publisher in the world.

"This is a very unique and exciting proposition," said Matt Jeffery, Recruitment Manager for EA UK Studios. "The games industry grew up a long time ago and is no longer perceived as a "geeks only" domain. Cutting edge graphics require cutting edge artists and some of those artists can be found working in film, TV, CG and other industries where the crossover of skills are applicable." He continued "We want the best people creating the best games and working in the best environment, and Digit provides the perfect platform from which to find the top 1% of graphics talent in the UK today."

Matthew Bath, Editor of Digit, adds, "The game design industry in the UK is often overlooked as a serious creative career, yet it is the powerhouse behind interactive entertainment. The "Dream Job" competition will provide a way for people to step into this exciting industry. Digit are very excited to be working with EA UK Studios on a competition of this magnitude."

The competition launches with the June Issue of Digit Magazine, on sale May 1st 2003, and gives readers the chance to win an interview for one of 3 positions within EA UK studios - 3D animator, 3D character designer and game-world builder. Submission is via creative show reels demonstrating flair in one of the aforementioned disciplines. The closing date for entries is June 16th 2003.

The competition is running across both the print and online versions of Digit, with a combined readership of over 30,000. EA are also flagging it heavily across their UK websites and it is the lead story in the UK newsletter that goes out to over 120,000 people. The competition URL is www.ea-europe.com/digit
