THQ today announced it has acquired the worldwide publishing rights to the highly anticipated "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" (working title). Developed exclusively for PC by Ukraine-based GSC Game World, "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" is the first game to utilize GSC Game World's proprietary X-Ray engine that allows for massive indoor/outdoor environments, real-time physics and the capability to push more than one million polygons per frame at 60 frames per second. "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" provides players with an intense first person action experience that incorporates elements of survival horror and role-playing while taking place in the forbidden zone of the Chernobyl nuclear facility. "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" will be available in 2004.

"`S.T.A.L.K.E.R. "This was truly one of the most talked about games at the recent Game Developers Conference and we are very excited to be working with GSC Game World as we move more aggressively into the high-end PC business."

"THQ is one of the largest and most successful publishers in the world," said Anton Bolshakov, Deputy Director of GSC Game World. "Their powerful global marketing and distribution force will make them the ideal partner for `S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost.'"

About "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost"

"S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" combines the first person action, role-playing and survival horror genres set in the disaster zone of the Chernobyl nuclear facility. As a stalker, the player earns a living exploring the underground laboratories, abandoned military bases and radioactive forests of the Chernobyl Zone in search of artifacts and anomalous formations to sell to underground dealers and scientists in research camps on the border. As the game progresses, the player will explore new areas, procure items and weapons and interact with a number of strange characters as they come to discover what truly lies at the heart of the Chernobyl disaster.

Based on a number of authorized visits to "the Zone," GSC Game World has photographed the 30 square kilometers of the infamous Chernobyl disaster, creating a game environment like no other. Players will see the Dead Forest, the cities of Pripyat and Chernobyl, sneak inside the remains of the atomic facility and travel through the areas that actually exist in the epicenter of the tragedy that occurred more than 16 years ago in a place few have ever been.
