As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'Armies of Exigo' Goes Gold

by Judy on Nov. 18, 2004 @ 10:26 a.m. PST

Worlds collide in Armies of Exigo, where the traditional boundaries of the battlefield are smashed and war is waged both above and below the ground. Armies of Exigo locks elves, beasts, knights, and creatures of the darkness in an epic battle for survival where armies can delve deep underground to advance undetected and then tunnel to the surface to unleash powerful attacks on their unsuspecting enemies.

"Armies of Exigo" pits the forces of The Empire, The Beast and The Fallen in a massive struggle for domination of a world divided by the terrain itself. In their quest for domination, the armies can travel below the surface to unleash surprise attacks or launch offensives from superior vantage points on the surface. Using the game's unique dual-layered map system, players can devise strategies never before seen in the real- time strategy genre. Utilizing special units for each army, players can even alter the landscape to eliminate the tactical advantages of their enemies, digging tunnels, creating avalanches and summoning volcanic blasts. "Armies of Exigo" offers a three-part single player campaign that follows each force as they seek to seize control of Exigo, as well as a robust online multiplayer mode for up to twelve combatants.

"Armies of Exigo" is developed by Black Hole Games, a development studio launched by Cinergi Interactive, a subsidiary of the award-winning motion picture production company Cinergi Pictures Entertainment. Slated for release on November 30, "Armies of Exigo" is rated "T" (Teen) by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $39.99. More information can be found on the game's web site at www.aox.ea.com.
