'Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots' Official Website Launched

by Rainier on Feb. 13, 2004 @ 9:45 a.m. PST

Microsoft Game Studios today announced that the official site for the Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots expansion pack is now live. Visitors will find a war chest's worth of game info; featuring screenshots, desktop wallpapers and descriptions of the campaigns, nations and governments included found in the expansion to the award-winning Rise of Nations.

Developed by Brian Reynolds and Big Huge Games, Thrones and Patriots adds six new nations, a wide variety of new single player campaigns, more than 20 new units, new wonders and an innovative new Government feature. With the new Government feature, any nation, old or new, can choose exactly how to be governed, which has far-reaching effects on how units perform in various situations. All-new single player campaigns will allow gamers to control the course of history during historical events that changed the world. Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots is scheduled to ship in Spring 2004.

The original Rise of Nations has won several major awards, including Game of the Year and Strategy Game of the Year, and is available wherever games are sold for the recently reduced price of $29.95 (U.S.). Rise of Nations combines the epic scope of turn-based strategy games like Civilization with the fast-paced action of RTS games. In Rise of Nations, players build a city and then improve its infrastructure, create new cities and expand national borders. Gamers have the option to win through military might, using everything from slingshots and cannons to stealth bombers, or they can corner the market on key commodities as they wheel and deal with a wide variety of civilizations. Unlike other historical RTS games, Rise of Nations allows gamers to quickly play through history, from early civilization to the modern age.
