Xfire To Be Bundled With 'Savage: Battle For Newerth' Demo

by Rainier on Feb. 19, 2004 @ 1:02 a.m. PST

Sam McGrath, Lead Programmer and Co-founder of S2Games, comments, "Xfire makes it extremely easy for friends to play Savage together. We're excited about bundling Xfire into our new Savage: The Battle for Newerth Demo."

Xfire also supports in-game Instant Messaging notification, which alerts friends playing online when a buddy is ready to jump in. Xfire has a very low memory footprint and goes into hibernation mode as soon as the game is launched.

Xfire users can:

  • See when their friends are playing online
  • See what game their friends are playing (supports over 75 games)
  • See where their friends are playing (server IP, map, player list, etc.)
  • Join their friends' games with one click

Plus, receiving IMs while playing won't disrupt the game

"Savage is a really great game that encourages team play," said Mike Cassidy, CEO of Ultimate Arena, Inc. "It's already a very popular game among Xfire gamers. The new release is going to make it even more popular."

Xfire supports numerous server and non-server based First Person Shooter, Real Time Strategy, and Role Playing games. Games supported by Xfire currently include: America's Army: Operations, Battlefield 1942, Counter-Strike, Dark Age of Camelot, Dark Age of Camelot Shrouded Islles, Diablo, Diablo II, Dungeon Siege, EverQuest, Halo, Lineage, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Meridian 59, Neverwinter Nights, PlanetSide, Quake, Quake III Arena, Starcraft, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003, Warcraft III, Wolfenstein Enemy TTerritory, XEvil, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy XI, and more.
