by Rainier on May 7, 2004 @ 9:16 a.m. PDT

While already revealed in their E3 lineup, The Adventure Company today announced that it will publish Missing (known in Europe as In Memoriam, published by Ubisoft) for PC in North America. This title will be shown as part of The Adventure Company’s line-up at the 2004 Electronic Entertainment Expo. Read more for details and the first screens.

A journalist investigating a string of gruesome murders mysteriously disappears with his companion. Soon after, the production company he works for receives a disturbing CD-ROM containing video footage captured during his investigation. More than just a CD, this disc is in-fact the beginning of a terrifying game with a maniacal killer known only as “The Phoenix.”

Missing offers an innovative blend of Windows® gameplay and the internet to immerse players in this elaborate game of cat and mouse. Players will receive actual email from virtual characters and The Phoenix himself offering important clues. Players will also search a mixture of 300 real websites, and fictitious sites created solely for the game, to obtain valuable information vital to solving the case.

Released under the name In Memoriam, the game has already received critical acclaim in Europe. Missing has an expected ESRB rating of ‘M’ for Mature and will ship in summer 2004. The game is developed by Lexis Numérique.
