When it comes to the survival horror genre, the two biggest players have always been Capcom's Resident Evil and Konami's Silent Hill series. Both companies have been battling it out over the years to see which one can give us the worst nightmares after a long game session. While RE might have started this genre, the SH series has really taken shape and proven it has what it takes. We are now just a few weeks away from the US launch of the latest installment of the Silent Hill series, and after playing through a good bit of our preview build, I can say without any doubts that Silent Hill 4: The Room is the best one yet!

SH4 actually takes place in a town near Silent Hill and finds you playing the role of Henry Townsend, who is locked in his apartment and not sure why. The apartment is the pseudo HUB for the game as well as one of its coolest features. While inside the apartment, you navigate around in first-person mode, interacting with objects and saving your game. There is very little to do inside the apartment itself, but while you are there, you can look out your windows at the world outside as well as spy on your neighbors. This part of the game adds a lot of suspense and tension as you start to uncover the story but does not come close to the actual game itself.

While you are initially exploring your apartment, you discover a tunnel in the bathroom that you use to travel to and from the dream world and your apartment. You start to play out the game and uncover the mysteries while Henry dreams, as this is apparently the only way for you to get out of the apartment. However, you start to question whether these "dreams" are actually Henry's or someone else's entirely. This is just the first of many plot twist that would mak
