About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'Crusader Kings' Goes Gold

by Judy on Aug. 27, 2004 @ 9:39 a.m. PDT

Based on the award-winning Europa Universalis engine, Crusader Kings transports strategy gamers to medieval Europe as they seize control of a family dynasty and work to build its glory.

"Crusader Kings combines traditional strategic elements of warfare and diplomacy with the new challenge of building up a dynasty, offering a new twist to strategy gamers," said Fredrik Lindgren, Director of Sales and Marketing for Paradox Entertainment. "We believe that any fan of strategy games is going to relish the new challenges Crusader Kings brings to the strategy genre."

Crusader Kings focuses on the feudal kingdoms of medieval Europe in the time period of 1066 to 1453 A.D. The game's map covers all of Europe, as players take on the role of the leader of a glorious dynasty and struggle to increase the greatness of their lands and their treasure coffins, build Cathedrals and Castles, and combat Highway Robber Bands and defecting vassals through nearly 400 years of gameplay. Multiplayer mode heats up the challenge as up to 8 players battle for prestige and piety. And, as an added bonus, players can add another 400 years of historical gameplay to their adventure by exporting their finished Crusader Kings game into the world of Europa Universalis 2.
