As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'Castle Strike' Finally Coming To North America

by Judy on Aug. 5, 2004 @ 12:41 p.m. PDT

Set in medieval Europe, Castle Strike brings to life the violent 14th century in stunning 3D detail with bloodthirsty knights, impregnable castles and authentic siege weapons. Castle Strike offers gamers a new feel for the RTS genre by introducing features that allow the game to focus more on warfare than micro-managing resources.

“Thanks to the unique design of Castle Strike, all the task management can be accessed by one central menu,” said Aaron Witt President of Witt Interactive Software. “We feel this creates a more engaging and action-oriented experience.”

Building elaborate castles is made easy by using the unique Pattern System which allows players to plan the castle layout and each construction phase well in advance. Castles can be fortified using the siege armory to build towers, catapults, mortars and cannons or by lining castle walls with ranged units armed with bows, crossbows, and even early guns. To save time during battle the organization of the workforce can be automated by allocating workers to either gather or build and by prioritizing which resources to collect. Using these tools players are able to fortify castles, align troops and siege weapons to storm enemy strongholds and allocate workers and resources all while never leaving the battlefield.

Would be generals will take the side of either German, English or French forces, each with a unique set of units and combat styles. Players will lead their troops through 27 single player missions or battle up to 4 other players in one of the many multiplayer scenarios. Castle Strike will hit stores this fall; for more info on the game and a downloadable demo visit www.castlestrikeusa.com.
