Brutal combat meets epic warfare on the war-torn fields of the ancient world as gamers fight for life, freedom and honor. In contrast to CA's Total War games which emphasized the player as commander (the General), Spartan: Total Warrior puts the player at the center of epic battles as a fighter known only as The Spartan. As an elite soldier blessed by the Gods, the Spartan is immersed in titanic clashes between mighty Roman battalions, classic mythological creatures, and skeleton armies.
"Spartan: Total Warrior offers an immersive experience bringing gamers to the center of the most grandiose battles ever seen on a game console," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president of marketing, SEGA of America. "Real-time combat sequences with hundreds of soldiers, living and dead, on screen underscores just one the groundbreaking technical achievements of the console team at SEGA studio The Creative Assembly."
A richly detailed saga of fierce combat, Spartan: Total Warrior runs on proprietary software that makes it possible to present more than 160 detailed warriors simultaneously engaged in pitched combat. Using a wide range of moves – multiple melee and missile attacks, combos, blocks, and shield charges – players wade into the thick of battle through massive environments; from arid wastelands to full-scale cities, through dungeons over rugged mountains, and finally to the ultimate showdown in the Imperial Coliseum in Rome.
Spartan: Total Warrior is rated "M" for ‘Mature' by the Entertainment Software Review Board, and is available at retailers nationwide for an MSRP of $49.95.
