Kojima has been touring Europe promoting the latest in the highly acclaimed series: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The new game, which is exclusively for PlayStation 2, is set in the Cold War and sees its hero, Snake, entering a hazard-filled jungle to rescue a scientist who wishes to defect. As the game progresses, however, it becomes apparent that characters from Snake's past will return to haunt him and that his mission is more personal than originally thought.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater completes the Metal Gear Solid trilogy. All three titles convey their own message, with Gene, Meme and Scene being important in forwarding, controlling and judging information in the ongoing plot. This underlines Kojima's efforts to create products, which are much more than just fun to play: he creates games with a message, and is aware of his social responsibility, whilst striking a careful balance between tension and humour.
The confirmation of a fourth installment in the best-selling stealth operative series is a major announcement during the current launch promotion of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. For the as-yet unnamed title, which is currently in the planning stages, Kojima will act as Head of Development, serving as the Executive Producer and is responsible for the game plan. Leading the whole development, he has assigned Yoji Shinkawa as the Character Designer and Kenichiro Imaizumi as Producer.
No further details are available on the fourth Metal Gear Solid title, but Konami of Europe will make further announcements in the run up to its release.
