Atari CEO Resigns

by Judy on June 7, 2005 @ 4:38 p.m. PDT

Atari today announced that James Caparro has resigned his position as Atari's President and CEO, effective immediately. The board of directors appointed current Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, Bruno Bonnell, to act as CEO on an interim basis.

The Atari board has started searching for a permanent president and CEO for the New York-based company, which announced in February it would overhaul its operations by closing two studios and spending more time and money on improving game development.

As announced by Glenayre Technologies in an SEC filing on June 3, 2005, Mr. Caparro entered into an agreement to become the President and Chief Executive Officer of Entertainment Distribution Corp., a division of Glenayre.

Bruno Bonnell stated, "Atari has assembled a senior management team that is moving forward to execute its strategic objectives. The team -- from product development to marketing and sales to finance -- possesses enormous energy and experience to lead us as we evolve into a more dominant force in the entertainment industry."
