'Gretzky NHL '06' (PSP/PS2) - 7 New Screens

by Rainier on Aug. 15, 2005 @ 8:46 p.m. PDT

Offering true hockey fans what no other hockey videogame can, Gretzky NHL 2006 is the only game designed with insight from The Great One. Due to hit stores in October, Gretzky NHL '06 for PSP is set to retake the virtual ice with the right combination of an authentic hockey simulation and arcade elements to appeal to the casual gamer and the hard-core hockey fan.

For those gamers seeking a quick arcade style hockey experience, Gretzky NHL '06 for the PSP offers up the All-New 3-on-3 Countdown Mini-game, exclusive to the PSP version. Each team has 3 players to take the ice and work their way down from a set number of goals. Gamers can select the number of goals to play (3, 5, 7, 9, 11) and work backwards from that number, with the goal being to get down to zero. Similar to Wayne vs. Wayne Mode, 3-on-3 Countdown provides gamers with an arcade style of play that includes flames that come off the blades of the skates to indicate speed bursts, hitting halos to highlight big hits, no offsides, no icing, and no penalties... just the right ingredients to play an aggressive, fast-paced, open-ice game.
