The great people of the past are on hand to support you. Take history in your hands and call personalities like Sir Isaac Newton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or René Descartes to your court.
The court is a new concept for EU3, which gives a greater flexibility in how a country can be molded. Each player may have up to three advisors in their court at the same time, and each advisor provides bonuses depending on their skill and category. Advisors that are not currently employed by the country of origin may be employed by anyone in the same technology group.
The advisors can also help to balance and even out disadvantages if your ruler/monarch is not as qualified as you would like him to be. Rulers are graded based on their administration, diplomatic and military skills. These in turn are based on what the country’s focus has been in the past, their experience on the battlefield or in the diplomatic circles around the world as well as how exposed they have been to administrative matters of the nation. Succession wars and early deaths may also result in child rulers that have yet to gain any experience in these areas.
High bonus advisors include:
- Henrique o Navegador (Henry the Navigator): The Portguese Prince who did more than any other to promote Portuguese exploration. Hire him and watch your navies advance.
- Wang Yang Ming: The greatest of the Chinese Neo-Confucian thinkers. Hire him for the Prestige of your realm
- Mimar Sinan: The great architect to Ottoman Sultans, his great works will improve the stability of your realm.
- Galileo Galilei: The first of the great astronomers, his discoveries will help the technology levels of your realm.
- Francis Walsingham: The great Spy Master to Elizabeth I. He will help your espionage efforts.
- Cardinal Richelieu: The great Cardinal who sat at the right hand of Louis XIII, he will help you in the discovery of new ideas to help you improve your country
- Vauban: The great military engineer who will aid you in the improvements to your armed forces.
- Cornelius Cruys: The man who helped Peter the Great drag the Russian navy into the modern age, he could do the same for you.
