'Reclamation' Enters Alpha Stage

by Rainier on Feb. 27, 2006 @ 4:01 a.m. PST

Reclamation is an MMORPG with an emphasis on character development and story driven role-play, set in a shared dream world. Players will have unprecedented control over the game world, serving as leaders in great houses, teachers, and warriors. Lyra Studios announces they are opening the doors to their loyal community members for Alpha testing.

This move to bring in dedicated testers straight from their community is part of a larger plan which will take advantage of the wealth of talent flowing through the gaming community as a whole. "Being an independent developer is an ongoing challenge in today's market. We're always looking for new ways to compete and to develop our products without any significant source of funding. We've had to think outside the box to find new and different ways to sustain development, and to that end we've decided to call on our dedicated player community to have a direct hand in completing Reclamation." - Mark Salowitz, Managing Director, Lyra Studios.

This new campaign begins by opening up the Alpha test to players of their original title Underlight, for help in tracking down the bugs in the early development. Following a prioritizing of bugs and content needed, the company will list required content on the website at reclamationgame.com, where any would-be game developer can browse through and submit their work which could possibly be in the final product. Lyra hopes to appeal to college students or others who are trying to break into the industry and would like to add work to their portfolio. By submitting this work to Lyra they will be releasing it free of charge to Lyra Studios, however Lyra intends to support those who offer their work in this way. "We appreciate anyone who wants to help us out with Reclamation, and we definitely want to give credit where credit is due, so we'll be supporting those whose work we use." - Lyra-Stone, PR and Marketing Lead, Lyra Studios.

This is an option for those who don't want the commitment of joining the team as a volunteer. That's not out of the question, however, with Lyra placing their job openings on lyrastudios.com, they will be looking to fill those as well. The positions are for volunteers willing to work at least 10 hours per week and will offer the chance to work closely in developing the game, as well as the opportunity to benefit from a successful release.
