PSP Firmware Update Includes Email and GPS Features
by Rainier on Feb. 5, 2006 @ 2:30 p.m. PST
The March issue of PSM reveals that Sony is working on a new firmware update for the PSP which will give user access to Sony Mail. The built-in e-mail program will use the unique ID number assigned to each PSP at manufacture to eliminate a potentially confusing server setup. The program won't require users to access a web site, but will let them choose a unique user name to associate with their PSP's ID. The PSM article also reveals that somewhere down the road Sony plans to release a GPS peripheral as well as a suite of UMD map packs.
