In baseball, no part of the game gets more attention than batting. The science of getting the perfect swing on a 90 mph fastball is perhaps the hardest thing to do in any sport, which makes the athletes in Major League Baseball some of the best athletes in the world. There’s nothing like watching a big league batter timing his step, turn on the spot, and launch the ball high and fast into the outfield. And no baseball video game captures the essence of the batting experience than Major League Baseball 2K6’s Swing Stick™ mechanic.

Borrowing the technology that made NBA 2K6’s Shot Stick one of the best original game mechanics in 2005*, Major League Baseball 2K6 delivers the intuitive and natural controls in batting with the Swing Stick™. Using the Right Analog Stick, gamers simply pull back to have the batter start pulling back for the swing. As the baseball is about to cross the hitting zone, releasing the Swing Stick™ will make the batter swing the bat for a contact swing, while pressing forward on the Swing Stick™ will result in a power swing. The Left Analog Stick can be used in conjunction to guess where a pitch is going and when contact is made, users can influence a hit to a specific direction on the field. These new control mechanics not only deliver a unique gameplay experience, but bring the most natural and intuitive controls to one of the most important parts of the game.
