Already revealed a few days ago, Namco Bandai today announced announced that its Ace Combat action series will be making its handheld debut later this year in Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, allowing on-the-go air battles and wireless Ad-Hoc dogfights.

Set to launch in Fall 2006, Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception will bring wireless multiplayer game play to the series for the first time via PSP system’s Ad-Hoc feature. With licensed aircraft such as the F-14D and Tornado F3, and a strategic AI system where the course of the player’s actions will directly affect their mission objectives, Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception adds up to the most realistic and fun portable flying game to date.

“Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception will take full advantage of what the PSP system has to offer with brilliant graphics, intense high-flying portable game play, and for the first time, wireless Multiplayer functionality, all lending itself to a thrilling aerial combat experience, anytime, anywhere,” Yoshi Niki, NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc.’s Product Group Director said. “We are thrilled to bring to the fans the level of excellence the series is known for on such a high quality portable system.”

The title also boasts an all-new storyline set in a new universe apart from the Ace Combat series on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. The player will take on the role of an ace pilot trying to liberate their home country of Aurelia from its neighbor, Leasath. A country filled with secretive motives veiled behind long-internal conflicts, Leasath, has invaded and taken over Aurelia. Defending the invaded country, the player’s mission will take them to the battle-filled skies in order to take down the enemy and restore freedom and peace to their homeland.

Rounding out the list of impressive features, Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception will allow players to tune their original aircrafts with parts unlocked in Campaign Mode to further enhance their flying experience.

Portable aerial combat will take flight this Fall 2006 when Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception hits retailers nationwide only on the PSP system.
