'Sadness' (Wii) - Screens & Trailer

Contrary to earlier speculation, Sadness is not set in the 1930s, but takes place before 1914, pre-World War I. Often compared to the comic book-based movie "Sin City," the game is totally different in style, and rather a tribute to pre-World War I cinema, with a similar atmosphere

Sadness is a game for adult gamers with strong nerves. Game takes up a topic of some aspects of variety kind of illnesses such as schizophrenia, narcolepsy and nycto nyctophobia. Game will maintain convention known from noir film genre.

„Projected by us title will be totally black and white – like a sadness. Cinematic way of looking will be reflected in a game style of presentation. We will do everything to not only make gamer feel like watching a normal film, but also to really become one of its characters” states Marek “Omen” Okon, visual artist and Sadness concept arts creator.

Game action will take place before year 1914 (World War I beginning) in Ukraine. Reasons for this choice justify one of screenwriters, Adam Artur Antolski:

“Ukraine means at the border. Some time ago this land was a border between Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Russian Empire and Ottoman Empire. This is the reason for Ukraine to be some sort of melting pot of several different cultures of east and west. This internal pluralism results in totally unique country beliefs of the people from that part of the world.”

First World War is some sort of boundary – this war was one of the greatest disasters of Europe civilization that changed the societies utterly. Mentality of people of the period demanded secretiveness of internal problems, both psychic and life. In this type of community chances of developing schizophrenia was pretty large. It was after war that psychoanalyze was created, customs become relaxed and people started to own up to their problems.
