Since ancient times, a clan of Keepers has guarded a collection of sacred rings that, when united with several hidden artifacts, grant the holder infinite power and immortality. When a rival clan, led by Durad, makes known its intention to obtain this power for an evil purpose, the Keepers send their prized student to uncover the artifacts and deliver them, along with the rings, to Grifit, the Old Master. Umang's journey leads him to the portal of a world unknown even to the powerful Keepers.
In The Sacred Rings, the portal transports Umang to Manula Valley and a series of truths are revealed. To his dismay, Umang discovers that this world was once inhabited by the Keepers, hundreds of years ago, until it was taken from them by Durad and his clan. More disturbing, it is revealed that Umang's arrival in Manula Valley is just one more step in a plot manipulated by Durad to bring Umang and the rings one step closer to evil. He must now outwit Durad's powerful forces to complete his quest and return the sacred rings to his clan.
Umang:
the Keeper clan’s top student and the main character. Umang was sent to Ademica Valley to study under the watchful tutelage of Griffit, a wise professor. Unfortunately a violent coup occurred within the Keeper clan during Umang’s studies, and he was assigned the task of protecting the Sacred Rings. While in his care, Umang used the rings to activate a portal which lead to a mysterious and previously undiscovered world.
Michael:
one of the oldest members of the Keepers clan. Michael is the guardian of the portal which leads to the Keepers’ palace. Michael appears and disappears throughout the course of the adventure, and at the most unexpected of times.
Nikifor:
a wandering native of Manula Valley. Nikifor one day happened upon an abandoned domicile. He has no discernable profession or permanent residence.
Witch (Reina):
a reclusive member of the Magic Circle. Reina enjoys her privacy, but will receive guests from time to time. She is particularly attentive when she’s complimented. Her home is in an area that receives generous rainfall throughout the year.
Himus:
a pharmacist who specializes in alchemy and simple medications. Himus is obsessed with figuring out a way to turn ordinary materials into gold; therefore he is not one to give out his services for free. Everything comes at a price.
Fird:
a former executioner of the rival clan who, tragically, was tricked into killing his own son. As a result, he spent many years wandering the world aimlessly while carrying the urn that housed his son’s ashes. He eventually settled down in an abandoned mine shaft located in Manula Valley. His days of exile are passed by visiting the graveyard, where he laid his son to rest, and begging forgiveness for his mistake.
Sarah:
Nefal’s wife, who took pity on Fird and who appointed herself his caregiver. Sarah suffers from chronic headaches, and continually buys medicine from the Alchemist to alleviate the pain.
Salan:
the undertaker and porter of the graveyard. It’s Salan’s job to make sure the dead are not disturbed.
Gugon:
the head Mage of the rival clan. Gugon specializes in witchery and dark magic, and can control peoples’ minds over vast distances, including the span of other worlds. He was involved in the ruse that took the life of Fird’s son, and was one of the individuals who organized and executed the coup within the Keepers clan.
Bargul:
leader of the clan and mortal enemy of the Keepers. His ultimate goal is to gain control of the Sacred Rings and the tetrahedrons. It’s because of his nefarious misdeeds that the war was waged with the Keepers, and will not rest until they are all destroyed.
