'Half-Life 2: Ep. Two' To Include 'Team Fortress 2' As Multiplayer

Earlier today EA held its Studio Showcase 06 where it presented its lineup for the rest of the year and beyond. Valve's Gabe Newell blew our socks off with the announcement that TF2 will be included as multiplayer portion with Episode 2, and even a full singleplayer game called Portal.

It will be a class based multiplayer experience with about 6-8 various classes at your disposal such as the engineer, sniper, soldier, scout, but also whacky characters such as demoman, pyro, and the heavy.

The visual style is unlike what you'd expect and more in the cartoon tradition such as Vivendi's No One Lives Forever or Evil Genius.

To fuel the physics madness Valve decided to add a totally new singleplayer game called Portal, which at first sight seems to have run away from 3D Realms' Prey. As its name indicates, this game is all about portals and its use to solve puzzles through the creation of portals. From simple obstacles as bypassing a gap in the floor, all the way to creating multiple portals to give chase to enemies and defeating turrets. The usage is quite simple as all you have to do is make an exit and entrance and walk from one end to the next. The more intricate puzzles required a bit of planning and thinking, for example knocking over a turrets spitting bullets at you was done by creating an exit portal above the turret, while making an entrance underneath a wooden create, thus making it fall through the portal on top of the turrent, knocking it over.

Portal of course uses the Source engine so graphically you know what you can expect.
