Earlier this year, Pocket Books acquired the rights to publish the novelization of Ubisoft's upcoming action/adventure game Assassin's Creed, but it turns out the deal has been abandoned. Author of the two first novels, Steven Barnes, revealed Ubisoft wanted to remove religious references and have the books vetted by an expert, which "disenchanted" Pocket Books, and the deal died.
